32.7 million people have died from AIDS-related illnesses since the start of the epidemic. 25.4 million people were accessing antiretroviral therapy in 2019. Four out of every five deaths of children under age five occur in these regions. It requires a whole-of-government and whole-of-society response, matching the resolve and sacrifice of frontline health workers.
